It's hard to believe that another year has gone by and that we are already celebrating Christmas, but that is just what happened this past Wednesday at our Youth Group. It was a night of fun, games, learning, and surprises.
Games
What would a party be like without some exciting games and prizes? The students were able to compete in games involving candy canes, whipped cream, and opening intricately and repeatedly wrapped presents. And then we had the wonderful opportunity to choose (and occasionally steal) white elephant gifts.
Surprises
Our Christmas party presented us with the perfect opportunity to hand out some very well-deserved (and delayed) awards. In March of this past year, HQ was scheduled to have our annual anniversary and award ceremony; but then COVID-19 arrived, everything shut down, and we were forced to cancel. On Wednesday, we were able to distribute these awards to each student who worked on a service project, went on a mission trip, or who showed us behavior/growth that set them apart from other students in 2019.
Lesson
What would a Wednesday be without a valuable Biblical lesson? This past Wednesday, Ryan taught the students about the importance of Jesus coming to earth, His humble beginnings, and His ultimate gift of love through His sacrifice. Christ's humility, love, and sacrifice are things to be emulated.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
John 15:12
